How To Best Present Your Work To Secure Clients

Finding clients can be pretty tough in this day and age. There’s a lot of competition in the marketplace and they’re all trying to lure new clients. However, there are tried and tested ways to pull in good clients which will of course grow your business.

It’s all about presenting your work in a way that shows what you can do, and how you do it. Depending on your industry, you might have different ways of doing this. Here are some ideas. If you can effectively showcase what you can do, or what you have done for others, you’ll find it far easier to pull in additional clients.

Physical Photo Books Are Old School But Effective

If you’re meeting them in person, presenting them with a photo book that’s simply full of the good work you’ve done can go an extremely long way. Being able to view high quality photos in person will make you stand out from the others.

You can still use this strategy without meeting them in person. You can send the photo books in the post. When they’re deciding whether to hire you or someone else, the photo book will be a constant reminder regarding how you do things slightly differently. It’ll help you stand out in their mind. You might think it’s expensive to do this…but to capture those high profile clients it really pays off.

You might struggle with the correct picture layout in your photo book. With some trial and error, you’ll get it right. Remember, you can make sure that you fix the layout online before you order the book so you’re not wasting books. Just make sure it’s perfect before hitting the order button.

Curate An Online Portfolio

Being able to simply direct people to an online portfolio is a great way to get eyes on your work. Make sure the website address is of a professional website. Not anything like wix or a free site builder. It just comes off as amateurish. Instead, be sure to buy a decent domain.

They’re pretty cheap and you can get hosting for under $10 a month too. Pick a decent theme and start uploading the work you’ve done. If you’re a writer, upload your work. If you’re a designer, showcase what you’ve created for past clients.

An online portfolio is easy to show off too. All you have to do is put the email address into your pitch emails. You can even put it on your business card. If you want to secure clients, including a photo book on your online portfolio can help.

However, combining a physical photo book with an online portfolio is even better. For example, you can send off the physical photo books and then direct them to your online portfolio to see a wider sample of your work, as most likely, you would include the best of your work in the photo books.

Use A PDF Deck

An easy way to showcase some good work is with a PDF deck. Essentially, you create a MS PowerPoint file and convert it to a PDF. It makes viewing the powerpoint far easier. It also allows you to showcase your work in a convenient way.

You can use PowerPoint to showcase your work. It’s really easy to use. You can make each slide a showcase, or use each slide to explain how you go about completing the work in general. Again, it’s really easy to do. You can even incorporate elements of the photo books you’re going to send into the PDF slide deck to give them a new lease of life.

If you’re not sure how to convert a PowerPoint into a PDF there are plenty of tutorials online. There are also good guides on how to best use PowerPoint too to ensure that you’re only creating the best and putting forward the best representation of your work.

Add Your Work To Social Media

If you’re active on social media it’s likely that you’re going to be promoting what you do there too. You can help this along by uploading snippets of your work there. Sometimes, clients might Google you to find out more about you.

When they Google you, if they find more epic snippets of your work there’s even more chance of them hiring you. You might need to be careful with it because some clients might not like you putting the work you’ve done for them online…so make sure you check with them first just in case.

You also need to add it in a way that makes the most sense. Don’t saturate your media pages with it…drop them in every now and then but in a way that looks more natural.
