10 Ways To Stay In Touch With Your Customers

The relationship between customers and businesses is constantly evolving. For a company to be successful, it can’t only be about buying and selling.

Customers demand constant communication from businesses so they can know more about them, guiding their buying decisions.

Businesses need to look for ways to keep in touch with their customers to be their favorite go-to brand and always be at the top of their customers’ minds. Here are ten practical techniques for improving communication with your customers.

Make Phone Calls

Phone calls are one of the most effective ways of staying in touch with your customers since they allow customers to get real-time responses.

Businesses with a virtual office find phone calls very effective. Phone calls make customers feel more connected to your business since you talk to them directly.

Despite the advantages, making phone calls to customers can be a challenge to some businesses, especially those that deal with many clients.

Consider making a list of the few high-priority clients who deserve direct communication.

Any time you make business changes that might affect them, remember to call them in time, notify them and respond to any queries they may have.

Send Email Updates

The easiest and most direct way to remain in touch with your clients is through email updates.

This method is also cost-effective since you can purchase bulk email subscriptions. You can use email updates to inform clients about upcoming events and ask for reviews.

Start by creating an email list so you can reach many customers quickly for effective email communication.

When creating an email, write a catchy and engaging subject line to compel customers to open and read your email.

You can also personalize your emails and make your email content engaging and scannable.

Use Chat Apps

Texting and messaging are among the most widely used forms of communication nowadays. Therefore, if you want to communicate with your customers directly, use chat apps.

You can use different chat apps to communicate with your customers, including WhatsApp, Skype, WeChat, Vibe, Telegram, and Messenger.

Each of these platforms has a different design and format. Once you choose your most preferred app, learn how to use it correctly to improve communication and customer engagement.

Ask For Feedback

When looking for an effective way to stay in touch with your customers and make them feel like they’re part of your business, ask for their feedback.

Through client feedback, you will know the satisfaction rate of your customers. You’ll get to know what they like most about your business and the areas where they would like you to improve.

You can ask customers for feedback through the following methods:

  • Send a follow-up email
  • Conduct customer interviews
  • Create paper feed
  • Send surveys through SMS

Once you get feedback from your clients, analyze it to determine what your customers need and make the necessary changes in your business.

Publish Blog Posts

When designing your website, create a small blog section. Write blog posts containing useful information about different things in your industry and post them on your website to communicate and engage with your customers.

Blog posts can increase traffic to your website. If your website receives enough traffic, you can easily convert it into leads. In the long run, you will observe a significant improvement in your business.

For your blog posts to be effective, include a catchy headline and break the content into several sections using helpful subheadings.

Create engaging and informative content to attract more people to your website and keep them glued.

Remember to update your blog posts regularly to pass new messages to your customers and remind them of your existence.

Include Live Chat On Your Website

Sometimes customers may visit your website looking for specific information. If they can’t find what they are looking for, they may want to get in touch with you directly.

Your customer service staff may not always be available to respond to customers’ questions.

That can pose a significant risk to your business since some customers may opt to get services from your competitors.

Include a live chat option on your website to avoid such issues. Your customers will get a real-time response and stay loyal to your business.

Post Regularly On Social Media

Businesses nowadays have adopted social media to stay in touch with their customers.

Social media can increase your brand recognition and promote customer loyalty.

You can also use it to engage your customers and enhance the credibility of your business.

The best way to use social media is by regularly updating your posts. Always find out what customers want from you and talk about it through your social media platforms.

Also, keep your posts entertaining and post promotional and giveaway content.

Consider opening social media accounts on different platforms since your audience is scattered on all social platforms.

Having a presence on all social media platforms will help you reach a larger audience and promote your brand awareness.

Create Video Content

Businesses are adopting video content to stay in touch with their customers.

Videos can help you communicate intricate ideas or elicit emotions. Also, this method is relatively fast compared to other forms of communication like email.

There are various ways you can implement this strategy. You may open a YouTube channel and use it as a platform to honestly communicate your business progress or take a lighter approach by sharing entertaining content with your targeted TikTok followers.

However, the content should be relevant and helpful to your clients.

Host Livestreams

Hosting a live stream allows you to broadcast helpful video content and engage with viewers at the same time.

You can host a Livestream through Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Clubhouse. During your live streaming sessions, allow customers to ask questions through the live chat option and respond to them.

Take this opportunity to demonstrate to your customers how to use your products or make important announcements.

Post In Online Forums

Almost all industries have online forums where members post helpful information. Some clients also ask business-related questions on online forums.

Stay in touch with your customers by being active on the online forum. Answer other people’s questions, and post helpful information occasionally.

When using this method, avoid bombarding people with your postings. Otherwise, you’ll irritate them, and they may lose interest in your business.

Parting Shot

With many businesses coming up and competition growing, regularly staying in touch with your customers is one of the best ways to get the upper hand in the competition.

Your customers will feel valued and trust your business’s credibility if you consistently communicate with them.

  1. Hi Ella, I’ve found most of my clients love phone calls. They even thank me as they say they don’t receive many actual phone calls anymore. It’s a breath of fresh air for them. However, some younger ones do prefer text messages over phone calls.

I blog about a range of tech topics.

For the last 7 years I have been a social media marketing specialist and business growth consultant, so I write about those the most.

Full transparency: I do review a lot of services and I try to do it as objectively as possible; I give honest feedback and only promote services I believe truly work (for which I may or may not receive a commission) – if you are a service owner and you think I have made a mistake then please let me know in the comments section.
