How to Find Online Work: Best Platforms for Freelancers

Many people have given up their traditional jobs in favor of freelancing due to the flexibility it provides. Businesses like using freelancers because they offer a more affordable option.

They are paid on a contract basis without any benefits. The problem is that there are so many platforms for freelancers and so many people using them that it can be difficult to stand out. Here are some of the best platforms for freelancers to find work.

Fiverr

Fiverr connects businesses with freelancers from all over the world. Freelancers can sign up, create a profile and begin offering gigs starting at a price of $5. If what they offer is appealing enough, buyers make a purchase, and they deliver.

The site’s advantage is that clients can find freelancers to do almost any kind of work for them. It’s a great solution for clients who want to get tasks done quickly and affordably.

The problem is that there are so many freelancers on the site, and they have to work for cheap prices at first if they want to get clients and reviews. Sites like Fiverr tend to work best for freelancers with specific skills, such as doing voiceovers, writing or graphic designing.

Guru

Guru is a well-known site that has been operating for over 15 years. The site is easy to navigate, and clients can hire freelancers for a wide variety of projects. Freelancers can search for job postings in different categories and according to geographic regions. They create profiles and list their services in different categories.

Buyers post jobs and can pay to feature them and receive bids from freelancers very quickly. Guru has a dashboard for managing projects in a central location and multiple payment methods. There’s a browser-based messaging service so freelancers and clients can communicate freely.

Upwork

Upwork is an established freelancer platform with so many freelancers that it can be hard to stand out. It is stricter on its policies than Fiverr – sellers are vetted to make sure buyers receive good quality. Profiles have project samples and reviews so clients can assess the quality of freelancers. The website is well organized and structured to enable clients to find the right freelancers and for freelancers to find jobs matching their skill sets.

When freelancers sign up with Upwork, they enter information about what they can do and focus on providing this particular service. Clients post their projects on the site, and freelancers can bid to do it and see how many other freelancers place bids too. Many large businesses use freelancers on Upwork to do their projects. Payments are secure, and clients are generally credible.

Toptal

When looking for top-quality freelancers, Toptal is the site to use. Its freelancers include finance experts, software developers, project managers and designers. Candidates are screened, and only 3% will pass the screening process. Once clients post projects, they can choose from a pool of qualified freelancers.

The chosen freelancer works for a two-week trial period, and if clients aren’t satisfied, they don’t pay for the services, and Toptal compensates the freelancer instead. The platform is secure and user-friendly, but the rates are high.

FlexJobs

Anyone who wants a job with some kind of flexibility can benefit from visiting FlexJobs. It offers some great tools for freelancers, such as free skills testing tools. People can find part-time and full-time jobs in over 50 categories.

They can easily upload resumes and work samples to their portfolios. Letting an expert team vet jobs for them so they only see the best job listings can save plenty of time and energy. They get alerted with an email when a job they may be interested in is posted.

The service basically curates flexible, professional, and legitimate job opportunities for people. Pre-screened and approved employers can also find candidates who fit their hiring needs and reach out to them directly.

DesignCrowd

DesignCrowd is a freelancing platform with a global community of designers. They compete by submitting their designs for specific projects. This ensures that businesses or individuals only select the best design.

Prize money goes to the winning designer, and the customer receives a top-quality design at an affordable price. It is also possible for customers to choose designers directly through the website. Designers can easily promote their work on the site and receive payment.

Codeable

Coadeable is a freelance website for WordPress developers. They can get hired by the best businesses across the world in short-term, recurring or full-time WordPress freelancing jobs. There’s a thorough vetting process for WordPress experts that includes a technical exam, live coding test, and a 45-day trial period.

Clients trust the platform to match them with the experts they need. Most of the experts have more than six years of professional WordPress experience and come from more than 50 different countries. More than 2,000 projects are delivered on time and without issues every month.
