How To Effectively Use Social Media To Promote Your Business

Social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter, currently have over 4.5 billion users worldwide. Any business that wants to thrive in this era needs to effectively use social media to sell or communicate with its target customers.

However, there are some strategies that businesses need to implement if they are to get the best out of social media.

In this article, I will discuss some of the tested strategies that any business can use to promote its services or products on social media. By the end of this article, you will have a clear idea of which strategies you can use to get more results from social media. Let’s jump right in!

The Best Social Media Strategies

1. Start By Choosing The Right Platforms

One mistake that you shouldn’t make at the start is creating accounts for all the major social media platforms. Using a few platforms is the best choice unless you have a huge marketing team available to do all the heavy lifting.

For small businesses, it is always best to start with two to three platforms. The choice of which platforms to use largely depends on your target audience. For instance, if you are targeting teens and youths in their early twenties, using Facebook wouldn’t be a good idea.

Most of these guys use Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat. You may also consider studying the popular brands within your niche to figure out the platforms they use to reach their customers.

2. Create A Clear Plan For Your Content

Creating a community on any social media website requires consistent publishing of content. You need to make sure you post at least once or twice per day on all your social media accounts. Being consistent on these platforms requires you to plan your content ahead of time.

You can always choose a day every week when you brainstorm your content ideas and write the actual posts. You can then use social media management tools to schedule these posts.

3. Offer Value First

As a business, your main goal for using social media is to sell your products or services. However, talking about your products in every post will be a turn-off to most of your social media followers.

It is always best to mainly share valuable information that is relevant to your industry to encourage engagement. Direct sales posts should be about 20% of what you publish.

4. Share More Visual Content

Posts with images or videos usually get more engagement on almost every social media platform. That is why most of the newer social media platforms, including Tik Tok and Snapchat, don’t even support text-only content.

If you intend to use the OG social platforms that still support text-only content, I would recommend prioritizing images and videos even on those platforms.

5. Add A Call To Action On Your Direct Sales Posts

When you share posts related to your products, always remember to add a relevant call to action at the end. A call to action will give your followers an idea of what they should do after consuming the content in your post.

The call to action could be something like “follow this link to learn more” if you want your followers to visit the products page on your site to learn more about the product the post is about.

6. Commit To Building A Community

One of the tested strategies for getting loyal customers from social media is through building a community. Building a community will require you to frequently publish valuable content and engage with your followers when they comment on your posts.

Your followers need to know that you really care about them and their needs. If you do this consistently, they will also likely return the favor by supporting your business.

7. Use Analytics To Make Most Decisions

All the major social media sites will give you data about your posts and the behavior of your followers. For instance, if you are using Facebook, you can find data about the behavior of your followers and how they engage with your content under the “Insights” section.

This will allow you to get details like the time of the day when most of your followers are active and the kind of posts they engage with the most.

With this kind of data, it becomes pretty easy to determine the type of content you should publish more often and the best times to post it.

Final Thoughts

Those are some of the tested methods you can start using to promote your business on any social media platform. Whether you are running a jewelry store selling Promise Rings or a local restaurant in your hometown, social media is a tool you can rely on to promote any of these businesses.

You just need to identify the platforms your target customers use and then start implementing the strategies we have discussed.
