GetRiver Review 2023 – Is River a Scam?

River Review - Is River a Scam?

GetRiver Review 2023

It’s a must to engage if you want attention on Instagram. That seems simple enough, right? After all, all you do is follow a few people and brands, like some photos, watch and like some videos, send or answer the occasional direct message.

After you do that throughout the day, people reciprocate and follow you back, like your photos, and send you messages, right? In theory, that’s how it’s supposed to work, but it takes time and effort to achieve the growth and engagement you need to truly be a viral sensation.

Most business owners and influencers are much too busy to spend hours on Instagram growing their presence. That’s one of the reasons they outsource the repetitive, tedious tasks to third-party marketing companies, buy followers/likes, or use an Instagram bot to do those activities.

With so many third-party online marketing companies out there, who can you rely on to do the job right? Reviews. Read professional and user reviews.

This review about GetRiver will offer you what you need to make an informed decision.

What is GetRiver?

River advertises itself as “Your Instagram Social Media Managers”. They make some awfully big claims about the companies they already work with, plus they are an expensive marketing service that functions like a standard Instagram bot.

Let’s take a deeper look inside their website and features.

What Are River’s Main Features?

Since they claim to be the #1 agency for growing your Instagram account, let’s look at what they offer.

Features/Services

  • They provide a dashboard where you add your hashtags.
  • Their “team” likes photos and will follow or unfollow according to your preferences.
  • They say they “play nice” with Instagram’s limits and don’t abuse it.
  • They claim your account is safe with them.
  • They also claim to fight against spam and report spam photos on your behalf.

Pricing

Essentially, River offers one plan for $99, a reseller plan, and an agency plan for which you get a quote.

Managed Plan

  • Likes, follows, and unfollows without abusing Instagram’s limits
  • Instagram customer support
  • The River Team adds photos to like (24/7)
  • The River Team adds targeted users to follow and/or unfollow (optional or 24/7)
  • They review your hashtags
  • You get a dedicated account manager
  • $99 per Instagram account

Agency Plan

  • The Agency Plan includes all of the features of the Managed Plan
  • You request a quote for 10 or more accounts

Is River Safe?

Now we’ll analyze the website and see what’s safe and what’s not.

Pros

  • Secure https site that does protect your activities on the website
  • Transparency regarding pricing
  • There is a FAQ and Help page
  • They do include contact information
  • They do have a few authentic user reviews on the website
  • They do use verified payment gateways to protect your payment information

Cons

  • I didn’t find any kind of 24/7 customer service or support available even though they claim to provide likes and follows 24/7
  • Probably an Instagram bot
  • Expensive

From what have ascertained, this is a similar service as Instagress was, (which was shut down), only more expensive.

While I believe this service poses a low risk to your account, but I still urge caution.

Final Thoughts

GetRiver claims to be featured on popular websites like Forbes, The Huffington Post, TechCrunch, FOX, and others, which is a red flag in my book.

On the other hand, they provide valid case studies and testimonials on their well-made website.

  1. They market themselves via spam that violates federal laws & fail to honour unsubscribe requests. They spam from at least 3 different domain names (getriver[dot]com, gainstriver[dot]com, and instantriver[dot]com), likely to evade spam filters, and they also appear to be a shell/sock-puppet for colibri.io. Oh, and they either harvest EMail addresses from public websites, or they buy address lists from third-parties who do so, because they’ve spammed me at an address that’s only listed publicly in the HTML source for a contact page.

Worthless snakeoil merchants at best, and criminal scammers at worst. They’re essentially no different from the garden-variety “Greatings of the day” Indian SEO brain donors, just that their operation has a little bit more of a veneer of legitimacy/professionalism (AKA they spam from their own domain instead of throwaway hotmail/gmail accounts).

  2. GetRiver is a scam. After a few months. They stop servicing your account. Then they stop replying to emails. They don’t have a cancellation button on their website and expect you to email for the cancellation. But they don’t answer your emails to cancel.

I blog about a range of tech topics.

For the last 7 years I have been a social media marketing specialist and business growth consultant, so I write about those the most.

Full transparency: I do review a lot of services and I try to do it as objectively as possible; I give honest feedback and only promote services I believe truly work (for which I may or may not receive a commission) – if you are a service owner and you think I have made a mistake then please let me know in the comments section.
